Minister Retno Participates in Virtual ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting

Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi participated at the 53rd ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting on Wednesday.
Held virtually. the ministerial-level meeting was led by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Bing Minh. Vietnam is the chair of ASEAN this year.
During the meeting, Minister Retnosaid that ASEAN should think and act as one community, advance collaboration and maintain interconnectivity in the region.

To tackle the impacts of covid-19, Minister Retno encouraged ASEAN should strengthen collaboration to build health resilience and revitalize economic activities in ASEAN to expedite economic recovery in the region.
"Indonesia chooses to walk together," Minister Retno said on her twitter page on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, Minister Retno joined a meeting between G20 foreign ministers to discuss enhancing international cooperation to recover from the impacts of covid-19 pandemic as well as strengthening preparedness for future pandemics.
During the meeting, the ministers and representatives of international organizations discussed the importance of coordinating precautionary measures on cross-border management to protect lives and livelihoods.
