Jakarta: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi received the President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Børge Brende at her office in Central Jakarta on Thursday, August 15, 2019.
"We discussed among others, invitation for Indonesia to participate in the WEF Sustainable Development Impact Summit in New York, September 2019," the minister said on her official twitter account this afternoon.
Held annually by the WEF, the summit is a forum for integrating and leveraging the best examples of public-private cooperation, systems thinking and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to develop the Sustainable Development Agenda.
Taking place during the UN General Assembly, the summit engages the most relevant and influential leaders across business, government, civil society, NGOs and academia to collaborate on and address the world’s most pressing problems.
Indonesia presented the report of Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) that was held at the UN Headquarters in New York last month.
The presentation, which highlighted Indonesia's second VNR within the last four years, was delivered by National Development Planning Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro.
Minister Brodjonegoro shared his experiences regarding the progress, challenges, and lessons learned by Indonesia in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition to delivering the presentation on Indonesia's VNR, Minister Brodjonegoro also participated as a keynote speaker at various meetings that were held during the HLPF, including at the event that was organized by Indonesian Government in collaboration with Vietnamese and Ghana Government themed "Leave No Child Behind: Achieving the SDGs through Investing in the Rights of the Child ".
