Bogor: President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo received a courtesy call from Singaporean Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakhrisnan at the Bogor Palace in Bogor on Wednesday.
"The meeting discussed preparations for (the Indonesia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat) which is scheduled to take place this year," Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said on her official twitter account this afternoon.
"The meeting also discussed bilateral cooperation for the next five years," the Indonesian top diplomat noted.
Last month, ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific was approved by ASEAN leaders during the 34th ASEAN Summit.
During the Plenary Session of the ASEAN Summit, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for all ASEAN countries that had made major contributions to the development of the Outlook.
"This Outlook represents the centrality and force of ASEAN in upholding the principles of peacekeeping, fostering a culture of dialog, and strengthening cooperation," the Cabinet Secretariat quoted President Jokowi as saying.
In addition to the issue of Indo-Pacific, the President also encouraged ASEAN to affirm their commitment to concluding the Regional Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) negotiations.
At the end of his remarks, the president also announced that the new ASEAN Secretariat office construction had been completed and ready for inauguration on 8 August 2019, coinciding with the 52nd anniversary of ASEAN.
