Jakarta: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi underlined the importance of concluding the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations at the ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday.
"A more integrated economy and a fair multilateral economic partnership brings benefit to all," said Minister Retno on her official twitter account this afternoon.
Initiated in 2011, RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between the member states of ASEAN Plus Six. Covering nearly half of the global economy, RCEP is the world's largest economic bloc.
From July 31 until August 2, Minister Retno is scheduled to attend the plenary and retreat meeting of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM), the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting (EAS) meeting, the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), and other ten meetings with all ASEAN dialogue partners.
According to reports, the meeting series involve foreign ministers from 10 ASEAN countries and 10 ASEAN speech partners, namely the United States of America, Australia, India, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, New Zealand, China, and the European Union.
In addition to that, Minister Marsudi is also expected to meet with foreign ministers of a number of countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, China, and Vietnam.
