Jakarta: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday received his second shot of the Sinovac covid-19 vaccine, as part of an effort to reassure Indonesian people of the safety of the covid-19 vaccine.
"The first recipients are health workers. In the second stage, the recipients are military personnel, police officers and public servants. I hope the public can start to receive covid-19 vaccinations in mid-February," said President Jokowi after receiving his second jab on Wednesday morning.
For the record, the CoronaVac vaccine produced by China’s Sinovac Biotech requires two injections of 0.5 milliliters each with an interval of 14 days.
Previously, the President received the first injection on January 13.
"It did not hurt at all," the President stated.
On that occasion, 21 officials and figures also received their second covid-19 shot, such as National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Chairman Daeng Faqih.
