Jakarta: Indonesian badminton men's double pairs are favourites for the 2019 BWF World Championships which will be held in Basel, Switzerland on August 19-25.
This year, the men's double team will be spearheaded by the world number one men's double pair Kevin Sanjaya sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon.
Marcus-Kevin's coach Herry Imam Pierngadi is really optismtic that his athletes can win the championship. He hopes that his team can deal with the pressure.
“As always, they (Kevin and Marcus) are expected to win the championship. For me,
it’s a real challenge. However, this expectation should not burden the boys,” the official website of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBS) quoted the coach who is colloquially known by his nickname “Herry IP".
This year, the men's double team have registered 4 pairs to participate in the World Championships. Besides Kevin and Marcus, Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan will also try to win the championship for the third time.
Similar with the Kevin-Marcus and Ahsan-Hendra, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian ardianto will start the tournament from the second leg. Unfortunately, Berry Angriawan and Hardianto will have to start the tournament from the first leg.
“Our expectation is that we will be able to become the champions of the tournament. I’m
