Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received Democratic Party joint task command head Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
"I hope Pak Jokowi and Pak SBY (Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) could maintain good relations," Agus told journalists after the meeting.
"I congratulate Pak Jokowi for winning the presidential race," Agus noted.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) concluded the vote recapitulation process at the national level on early Tuesday morning. KPU named the incumbent as the winner of the 2019 presidential race.
According to the agency, the incumbent bagged 85,607,362 votes (55.5 percent). On the other hand, his rival Prabowo Subianto collected 68,650,239 votes (45.5 percent).
Indonesia held the first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections on April 17. Voters elected the president, vice president as well as members of national and local legislative bodies on the same day.
In order to run for presidency, Jokowi was endorsed by PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PKPI, PBB and PSI. In the meantime, Prabowo was supported by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PKS, PAN and Berkarya Party.
"Indonesian people has made their decision. They have picked their leader," Jokowi told journalists yesterday.
"I and Pak Ma'ruf Amin thank all Indonesian people. We will pay your trust," Jokowi noted.
