Jakarta: The National Police has revealed that as many as 192,168 police personnel will secure this year's simultaneous regional head elections.
"The National Police will deploy 192,168 personnel," National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Awi Setiyono said here on Tuesday.
This year's simultaneous regional elections will take place on December 9. Local elections will be held in nine provinces, 37 municipalities and 224 regencies.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) initially planned to hold the simultaneous local elections in September. However, the government then decided to postpone the event due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
"Our personnel will guard 300,152 polling stations," the spokesman said.
According to the police general, 266,220 polling stations are classified as low risk category. Meanwhile, the other 34,863 polling stations are classified as high risk category.
"5,113 polling stations are classified as very high risk category and 732 polling stations are classified as special category," he stated.
