Jakarta: Deputy Chairman of the Comission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) Hetifah Sjaifudian has urged the government to postpone the implementation of limited face-to-face learning.
“It is best to postpone the trials," Hetifah told Medcom.id on Thursday.
"The implementation of face-to-face learning must depend on the latest covid-19 situation,” the lawmaker said
According to Hetifah, new covid-19 variants that have higher transmission rate have been detected in Indonesia.
"Currently the health system is struggling," the Golkar Party politician explained.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) recently stated that the policy has been yet to be changed or cancelled.
Nevertheless, schools in high-risk zones have been ordered to stop limited face-to-face learning and reintroduce online learning. (Translator: Natasha Celia)
