Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to visit Papua region this week. He is expected to inspect the Holtekamp Bridge project in Jayapura and the post-riot rehabilitation and process in Wamena.
"Yes the President would go there. (Besides visiting Holtekamp Bridge), he would observe activities after riots in Jayapura and Wamena," Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said here on Thursday, October 24, 2019.
Basuki have not received the detailed information about the visit. He said that the President could start his visit from Jayapura or Sorong.
"After that, he would visit Manokwari, Jayapura, Ambon and Palu. He would return on Tuesday," he remarked.
President Jokowi will be accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian. The former National Police chief will work from Papua until Monday.
It will be Tito's first visit as home affairs minister. He previously served as Papua Regional Police chief.
