Jakarta: President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo envisions a new capital in East Kalimantan to defeat Dubai, United Arab Emirates as the best city. He believes Indonesia's new capital will be a gift for the world.

According to him, moving the capital city from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is not just relocating government offices or the Presidential Palace. However, the transfer of the capital must be also be accompanied by a change in the system.
"We want to create a city that sets an example and can answer world problems." Said Jokowi
Jokowi chose a part of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kertanegara Regency to be the location of the new capital city. This region is considered to have minimum disaster risks, such as floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, forest fires, volcanoes, and landslides.
In addition, this region is considered strategic because it is in the middle of Indonesia. This area is also surrounded by developing cities, Balikpapan and Samarinda.
