Jakarta: The Police have decided to reopen the National Monument (Monas) area after an alleged smoe grenade explosion injured two members of the Army this morning.
"The forensics team has finished investigating the crime scene. Soon we will open the crime scene," Gatot said at Central Jakarta Monas on Tuesday, November 3, 2019.
The Monas area was reopened at around 10.22 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara was alo reopened for pedestrians and vehicles.
The police line surrounding the crime scene has also been removed. The police retrieved pieces of the explosion and some evidence from the scene.
Gatot guaranteed security in the Monas area. He urged People to continue their activities.
"No problem, please continue your activities," he said.
The Jakarta Police Chief guaranteed that there were no more suspicious objects at Monas. Nevertheless, Security forces will remain on guard at the location.
"During the search, no other items were found. The Military Commander and I will secure this location, we will investigate the origin of the item," said Gatot.
