Jakarta: The Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced former Golkar Party secretary general Idrus Marham to three years in prison and a fine of Rp150 million in the graft case of Riau-1 power plant.
The panel of judges found the former Golkar Party lawmaker guilty of receiving bribe money from Blackgold Natural Resources Limited boss Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo.
"Idrus Marham has been proven guilty of committing corruption," the head of the panel of judges Yanto said here on Tuesday.
According to the court's verdict, Idrus received kickbacks amounting to Rp 2.25 billion from the businessman. In addition, Idrus masterminded the signing of the power purchase agreement between Blackgold Natural Resources Limited and state-owned electricity company PT PLN.
In August, KPK officials named the former social affairs minister as the third suspect in the graft case. A month earlier, KPK investigators arrested the Blackgold Natural Resources Limited CEO and Golkar Party lawmaker Eni Maulani Saragih during a sting operation in the capital city of Jakarta.
"KPK arrested EMS (House of Representatives legislator for 2014-2019) and JBK (private sector). The two are detained for 20 days starting today at East Jakarta Class I Detention Center KPK Branch. KPK has previously named EMS and JBK as suspects. After a 24-hour examination and case hearing, KPK concluded that EMS allegedly received kickback from JBK in relation to the PLTU Riau-1 development contract," KPK said in a press release in July 2018.
Last month, Eni was sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million. In December, Johannes was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison an a fine of Rp150 million.
