Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is eager to visit with Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto's home.
"It is not impossible. He is a humble person," Luhut said here on Tuesday.
Indonesia held its first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections on April 17. Voters elected the president, vice president as well as members of national and local legislative bodies on the same day.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) concluded the vote recapitulation process at the national level on May 21. KPU named the incumbent as the winner of the 2019 presidential race.
According to KPU, Jokowi gathered 85,607,362 votes or 55.5 percent of the votes. On the other hand, Prabowo collected 68,650,239 votes or 45.5 percent of the votes.
This year, Jokowi was endorsed by PDIP, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PSI, PKPI and PBB. In the meantime, Prabowo was supported by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PKS, PAN and Berkarya Party.
The Constitutional Court (MK) is scheduled to announce its ruling on presidential election dispute this Thursday. MK judges initially planned to expedite their verdict on Friday.
"Just wait for President Jokowi's speech after MK's announcement. Everything will be allright. He will deliver a speech as the elected candidate. He will call for unity," Luhut remarked.
