Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has announced that the government will impose micro-scale social restrictions in Java and Bali regions.
"The implementation of the micro-scale social restriction is in line with the president's order," said the Chairman of the Committee for Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery here on Wednesday.
"Local governments will determine areas that need to implement the restrictions," the coordinating minister added.
According to Airlangga, the social restrictions will be implemented for at least two weeks from January 11 until Januaryv 25.
To tackle the spread of covid-19 in Java and Bali regions, the central government will supervise the implementation of the social restrictions.
Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 7,445 new coronavirus cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 779,548.
From Monday noon until Tuesday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients was up by 6,643 to 645,746.
Within the same period, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll rose by 198 to 23,109
