Jakarta: The newly-established Sea Horse Task Force will be tasked to monitor fuel distribution activities. The agency will be led by National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Kabareskrim) Head Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
"I have established the Sea Horse Task Force that will be directly led by the Kabareskrim head. It will be supported by Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) deputy head and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) head," National Police Chief General Idham Azis said at the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry on Thursday, January 9, 2020.
Idham explained that the task force will focus on preventing violations. He stressed that any violator will receive a firm response.
"Regional Police and Resort Police heads should closely monitor fuel distribution activities. The Sea Horse Tsk Force should also be able to guard fuel distribution activities," the National Pollice leader remarked.
ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif earlier assured that the government will provide good fuel distribution services. He admitted that monitoring activities should be held periodically, especially during national holidays.
"This commodity is badly needed by the public. The government is obliged to distribute fuel well. It is stipulated in the Oil and Gas Law," the minister noted.
Arifin hopes the task force can help reduce fuel imports. He believes that lower fuel imports can lead to lower trade deficit.
