Bekasi: Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) at the Ministry of Transportation sent a fine to Garuda Indonesia. Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the smuggling of Harley Davidson and Brompton folding bikes was a security concern.
"Today the DGCA will deliver a letter to Garuda about the fine," Budi said in Bekasi on Sunday, December 8, 2019.
Budi explained that in accordance with the provisions, airlines have flight approval that must list passengers and goods carried on the plane. If that is not included in the flight approval, the airline must be responsible or be prepared to be fined.
Regarding the removal of Garuda Indonesia’s director, Budi said there must be a direct replacement. "And I think a corporation as big as Garuda has a lot of skilled maintenance and operation personnel. In my opinion, there won't be any problems," Budi explained.
