Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has ordered the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to improve social protection systems in the country.
"We will reform the social protection systems in the near future," said National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa here on Tuesday.
According to the minister, reforms are crucial to address the ongoing covid-19 crisis and anticipate future pandemics and crises.
"We understand that we need to improve our data," the United Development Party (PPP) politician stated.
On Monday, the Indonesian Government officially launched National Cash Assistance Programs for 2021, including the Aspiring Family Program (PKH), Non-cash Food Assistance/Staple Food Card, and Social-cash Assistance.
During the launching, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) symbolically distributed the assistances to a number of beneficiaries.
The Government has allocated Rp110 trillion for social assistance programs in the 2021 State Budget that is expected to ease the burden of those affected by covid-19 pandemic.
