Indonesia held its first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections on April 17. Voters elected the president, vice president as well as members of national and local legislative bodies on the same day.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) concluded the vote recapitulation process at the national level on May 21. KPU named incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as the winner of the 2019 presidential race.

According to the election agency, Jokowi gathered 85,607,362 votes or 55.5 percent of the votes. On the other hand, his rival Prabowo Subianto collected 68,650,239 votes or 45.5 percent of the votes.

In order to run for presidency, Jokowi was endorsed by PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PKPI, PBB and PSI. In the meantime, Prabowo was supported by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PKS, PAN and Berkarya Party.

On May 22, Agus met with the incumbent at the Bogor Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java. On that occasion, he congratulated the former Jakarta governor for his election victory.

“Bapak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has also congratulated the President via telephone. There is also a video statement released to the public. He felt relieved. He conveyed that the spirit to maintain a positive atmosphere must be maintained by all,” Cabinet Secretary's website quoted AHY as saying.

“(The constitutional way) is available. I hope that all Indonesian people can avoid any conflict that leads to unconstitutional actions,” he said.
