Jakarta: The Indonesian government today recorded 20,574 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 2,053,995.
From Wednesday noon until Thursday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients in the country increased by 9,201 to 1,826,504.
In the past 24 hours, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll was up by 355 to 55,949.
According to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Micro-Scale Activity Restrictions (PPKM Mikro) is still the most appropriate policy to stop the spread of COVID-19 to the village level.
"We are aware that the significant increase in positive cases has resulted in the rising bed occupancy rate in hospitals," the President stated here on Wednesday.
When the PPKM Mikro is implemented properly and on the ground measures are continuously strengthened, the rate of cases should be under control.
