Jakarta: The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has decided to extend the emergency status over the covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia until May 29, 2020.
"The extension will be effective for 91 days from February 29, 2020 until May 29, 2020," BNPB chairman Doni Munardo said here on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
As of Monday, March 16, 2020, the government has recorded 134 confirmed Covid-19 cases, eight recovered patients and five deaths.

In a bid to maintain the purchasing power in rural areas, the government recently announced plan to allocate Rp40 trillion for several programs to increase public purchasing power and consumption.
The plan was mentioned by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo during a virtual cabinet meeting on Monday, March 16, 2020.
On the Pre-Employment Card program worth Rp12 trillion, President Jokowi said that the program will be launched by this week.
President Jokowi also told the Ministry of Finance to see the possibility of whether the total budget of the program can be increased to strengthen public purchasing power and consumption, which is aimed at cushioning the country’s economic growth.
