Ilham Saputra Picked as KPU Acting Chairman

Jakarta: General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner Ilham Saputra was picked to temporarily lead the agency after KPU chairman Arief Budiman tested positive forn covid-19.
 
"It has been decided. Ilham Saputra will become acting chairman," KPU commissioner Evi Novida Ginting Manik told Medcom.id here on Tuesday.
 
Arief tested positive for the virus last week. The KPU chairman is currently being treated at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta. 
KPU is currently revising the KPU's Regulation Number 10 Year 2020 on the Implementation of the 2020 Simultaneous Regional Elections during Covid-19 Pandemic. The political event is scheduled to take place on December 9.
 
"We want to limit or erase activities that can attract crowds. Those events are prone to become covid-19 clusters," she stated.
 
On Tuesday afternoon, The National Covid-19 Task Force confirmed 4,071 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 252,923.
