Jakarta: Police have arrested eight Save Indonesia Action Coaltion (KAMI) members for violation Electronic Information and Transaction Law.
"They were arrested by the cyber team of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) in Medan and Jakarta," said National Police Spokesperson Brigadier General Awi Setiyono here on Tuesday.
According to the National Police official, Anton Permana, Syahganda Nainggolan, Jumhur Hidayat, and Kingkin were arrested in Jakarta, while Juliana, Devi, Khairi Amri, and Wahyu Rasari Putri were arrested in Medan.
Awi revealed that the eight KAMI members are currently being examined at the Bareskrim heaquarters in Jakarta and police will disclose detailed information later today.
Several reports claimed that Anton Permana and Syahganda Nainggolan were arrested by police officers after they spread hoaxes about Job Creation Law on social media.
The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) passed the Job Creation Bill into law during a plenary session last week.
