Jayapura: The Jayapura Immigration Office has deported six Papua New Guinea (PNG) nationals and blacklisted them from entering the Indonesian territory.
According to the Jayapura Immigration Office head Gatut Setiawan, the six PNG nationals were deported to their country on November 8, 2019 through the Skouw cross-border checkpoint.
The PNG nationals are identified as Graham Kenai Amsor (51), Patricia B. Tungla (47), Ryan Amanus Tungla (26), Titus Pondik (39), Hendrik Anrisa (48), and Rachael Tungla (50).
Before deportation, the PNG nationals were held in custody for attempting to smuggle two tons of betel nut aboard motorboats
"They were arrested by the patrolling Indonesian naval personnel on (October 28, 2919) while entering the Jayapura waters aboard three motorboats. They were later handed over to the immigration authorities for further process," he stated here on Thursday, November 14, 2019.
Offering an explanation on six PNG nationals using fake cross border passes, he said the case had been reported to the PNG consulate in Jayapura.
"We have reported on the allegation of fake cross border pass to the PNG consulate in Jayapura," he remarked. (Antara)
