Jakarta: President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo proposed the term radicalism be replaced by the term ‘religious manipulator’. This is to prevent the spread of radicalism in society.
"Are there other terms we can use, for example religious manipulator," Jokowi said during a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office, Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta on Thursday, 31 October 2019.
According to him, radicalism is still a real threat in Indonesia. It has spread to government institutions, community groups, to non-government institutions.
"There must be a serious effort to prevent it from spreading," Jokowi said.
One way to eradicate radicalism is the development of human resources based on Indonesia’s national ideology of Pancasila. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has been tasked to find the best way.
"I leave it to Pak Mahfud to manage solving this problem," he stressed.
