Similar with 2014, the 2019 presidential race was contested by Jokowi and Prabowo Subianto. Five years ago, Jokowi won 53 percent of the votes against the opposition leader.
Several hours after the polling stations were closed, almost all quick count surveys said that the incumbent is the likely winner of the 2019 presidential race. However, Jokowi asked his supporters to wait for the official announcement.
"After the elections, as brothers and sisters, we need to maintain our unity," Jokowi said here earlier today.
"All of us can see the quick count results. But we should be patient. Let's wait for the official announcement," he noted.
