Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has announced that the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Indonesia's capital will begin on Friday, April 10, 2020.
According to the former education minister, the implementation of PSBB will be held for two weeks. However, the duration can be extended if necessary.
"On Friday, April 7, 2020, Jakarta will implement PSBB as ordered by the Minister of Health," Anies said here on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto recently approved the proposal to implement large-scale social restrictions in Jakarta Province. He made the decision after receiving inputs from other related officials.
"The approval letter will be delivered to the governor today. The governor is the one who will decide the starting date," Ministry of Health spokesperson Busroni told Medcom.id here on Tuesday morning.
Jakarta is still the epicenter of covid-119 outbreak in Indonesia. The central government has been operating a covid-19 emergency hospital at the Kemayoran Athletes Village in Central Jakarta since last month.
