Ministry Plans to Establish Emergency Hospitals in Several Regions

Jakarta: The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) plans to turn Hajj dormitories in several regions into emergency hospitals.
 
The government earlier transformed the Kemayoran Athelete Village in Central Jakarta into the Covid-19 emergency hospital. The facility was officially opened on Monday, March 23, 2020.
 
"We want to replicate this in other regions," SOEs Minister's Special Staff Arya Sinulingga said at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) headquarters, Rawamangun, East Jakarta on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo earlier inspected the Kemayoran Athlete Village before the opening of the facility. He was accompanied by SOEs Minister Erick Thohir and BNPB chairman Doni Munardo during the visit.
 
"The athlete village can accommodate 24 thousand people. The Government is now preparing the building to accomodate 3,000 patients and it will be equipped with proper medical facilities, including wards, doctor’s consultation rooms, and other rooms, all of which will be located separately," President Jokowi said at a press statement after the visit.
 
As of Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia has reached 686. In the meantime, the death toll has risen to 55.
