Democratic Party Wants to Join Governing Coalition

Jakarta: Democratic Party deputy chairman Syarief Hasan has admitted that many members of the party want to join President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's coalition.
Nevertheless, the party have yet to make any official decision.
"Majority of us want to join them as long as we are able to establish chemistry and togetherness," Syarief told reporters here on Tuesday.

Syarief revealed that Democratic Party's future political moves will be decided during the upcoming high council meeting. He added that the party will continue to maintain relationship with Jokowi.
"If we manage to make the decision, we will make an official announcement," Syarief said.
According to Syarief, Democratic Party and Jokowi have a good relationship. However, members of Jokowi's coalition may reject Democratic Party's inclusion.
"Are the coalition party members willing to accept our inclusion? That is why we need to establish communication with them," Syarief said.
