Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Inaugurated Maluku Governor Murad Ismail and Maluku Deputy Governor Barnabas Orno at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
President Jokowi was accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, Administrative and Bureucratic Reforms Minister Syafruddin, Cabinet Secretary Minister Pramono Anung and National Police chief General Tito Karnavian.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by NasDem Party chairman Surya Paloh, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hazan, PKPI chairman Diaz Hendropriyono and PDI Perjuangan secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto.
The inauguration ceremony was started by reverberating the National Anthem Indonesia Raya. It was followed by the recitation of Presidential Decree Number 189/P of 2018 on the Appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor of Maluku Province for the 2019-2024 period.
"I will adress four big issues. They are poverty, unemployment, good governance and investment growth," Murad told the press after the inauguration ceremony.
The pair won the Maluku gubernatorial election with 328,982 votes. They defeated incumbent pair Said Assagaff-Anderias Rentanubun as well as independent Herman Koedoeboen and Abdullah Vanath.
Born in Ambon 57 years ago, Murad earlier served as the head of the National Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob). In the meantime, Barnabas previously led Southwest Maluku regency.
