Jakarta: The Selection Committee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Leadership has announced 192 candidates who passed the administrative selection.
"There were 376 applicants. 192 of them passed the administrative selection," the selection committee's head Yenti Ganarsih told a press conference here on Thursday.
She revealed that the selection process will comprise 13 phases. She added that her team will hold a competency test in the capital city of Jakarta on July 18.
The Selection Committee is tasked to choose new commissioners for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for period of 2019-2023. The appointment of the committee members is stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 54 / P Year 2019 on Establishment of the Selection Committee Members for the KPK Commissioners for 2019-2023 Period.
During a meeting with the Selection Committee last month, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that he fully trusts the Selection Committee to choose the best candidates. In addition, the former Jakarta governor also emphasized his commitment to prevent and combat corruption.
“The President has called on us (the KPK selection committee) to carry out the mandate in choosing the best commissioners since the KPK has a crucial role to eradicate corruption," the Cabinet Secretariat's website quoted Yenti as saying.
