Makassar: Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto ensured that the spread of the coronavirus does not reach Indonesia. He urged people not to worry and panic.
"Until now no one has been affected by the coronavirus," said Terawan, while visiting Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Makassar, South Sulawesi on Sunday, January 26, 2020.
Terawan came to Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, to directly check the patient suspected of having coronavirus. The patient is known to have traveled to China some time ago.
He denied that bats had become a medium for spreading viruses originating from Wuhan City, China. The virus originates purely from outside Indonesia.
"That’s a hoaks. The coronavirus does not originate from bats and the like," he said again.
He appealed to the whole community to be vigilant of the virus, by living a healthy lifestyle. So that the virus does not infect the body.
"Which can prevent transmission," he explained.
Director of Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Khalid Saleh, said information related to patients with coronavirus diagnoses was incorrect. But he confirmed that patients had come to examine themselves for fear of contracting the coronavirus, because they traveled to Wuhan a week ago.
"But after examination, the patient was only exposed to ARI,"
