Jakarta: Many countries have labelled the coronavirus outbreak case a serious problem. Moreover, based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), coronavirus cases continue to increase.
"It is still increasing and increasing compared to previous days," said Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Anung Sugihantono in a teleconference video at the Ministry of Health, South Jakarta on Thursday, February 8, 2020.
Anung said the WHO continues to monitor the spread of the coronavirus. A total of 24 countries has been declared exposed to the coronavirus.
"Other countries are being asked to make more serious efforts to handle the coronavirus," he said.
According to him, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, there were 26,054 cases tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The number increased compared to the previous day which was 22,129 cases.
The coronavirus has spread outside of China. An Indonesian citizen (WNI) has also been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus in Singapore. The Indonesian citizen is known to have contracted the virus from his employer, who was previously confirmed to have been infected with the coronavirus.
Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (PWNI and BHI) Judha Nugraha asked Indonesian citizens abroad, including in Singapore and China, to follow the advice of local authorities. According to him, steps to prevent contracting the coronavirus include using a mask, maintaining body stamina, eating nutritious food and also maintaining a healthy psychological condition.
"We, through our representatives, appeal to our citizens abroad to take preventative measures to prevent contracting the disease," Judha said.
