Jakarta: Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan will attend at an ethics trial at the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP). Wahyu was caught red-handed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"Wahyu setiawan is ordered to attend the DKPP trial session at the request of DKPP," KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri told Medcom.id on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron ensured that his party supported Wahyu's ethics trial. An ethics trial is needed to determine the status of Wahyu in the KPU.
"The length of the trial is adjusted to our examination schedule which is also ongoing," Ghufron told Medcom.id, Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) reported the former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan that he will be going to the DKPP. This is related to the alleged bribery that ensnared Wahyu.
Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body Abhan said the report was related to a bribery case in regards to legislative candidates in the House of Representatives (DPR). The case occurred after a tripartite meeting between Bawaslu, KPU and DKPP.
Bawaslu took the initiative to make reports of alleged violations of the code of ethics. These steps need to be taken to ensure the certainty of Wahyu's status as a KPU member who is now a suspect in the KPK.
DKPP has requested permission from the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission Firli Bahuri to present Wahyu Setiawan at the ethics trial on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Implementing the duties of the Chairperson of the DKPP Muhammad said the Wahyu case fulfills the requirements for being brought to the ethics trial. Wahyu is threatened with the toughest sanction, namely the dishonorable discharge as a member of the KPU.
"God willing, tomorrow (Wednesday, January 15, 2020) at 14.00 we will conduct an ethical trial on WS," he said.
