Jakarta: Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has rejected the result of the 2019 presidential race, suspecting alleged structured, systematic, and massive fraud.
"We reject the result of the vote recapitulation," Prabowo told a press conference on Tuesday.
Prabowo hinted that his campaign team will file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court (MK). The former Army general also assured that his supporters will hold protests peacefully.
"We will try all legal actions," Prabowo remarked.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) concluded the vote recapitulation process at the national level on early Tuesday morning. KPU named incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as the winner of the presidential race.
According to the agency, Jokowi and his running mate Ma'ruf Amin bagged 85,607,362 votes (55.5 percent). On the other hand, Prabowo and vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno collected 68,650,239 votes (45.5 percent).
Indonesia held the first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections on April 17. Voters elected the president, vice president as well as members of national and local legislative bodies on the same day.
"Indonesian people has made their decision. They have picked their leader," Jokowi told journalists this afternoon.
In order to run for presidency, Jokowi-Ma'ruf were endorsed by PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, PKB, PPP, NasDem Party, Hanura Party, PKPI, PBB and PSI. In the meantime, Prabowo-Sandiaga were supported by Gerindra Party, Democratic Party, PKS, PAN and Berkarya Party.
"I and Pak Ma'ruf Amin thank all Indonesian people. We will pay your trust," Jokowi noted.
