Central Java Urged to Boost Covid-19 Handling at Villages, Local Units

Semarang: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has instructed the Central Java provincial administration to strengthen covid-19 task forces at neighborhood units (RT), community units (RT) and villages.
 
"Isolating and quarantining villages or other local units is more effective than isolating and quarantining cities or regencies," President Jokowi said here on Tuesday.
 
President Jokowi held a working visit to Central Java province today. He departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in East Jakarta and landed at Ahmad Yani Intenational Airport in Semarang City this morning. He was accompanied by a number of cabinet members, including National Covid-19 Task Force head Doni Monardo and State-Woned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir.

In Semarang, He held a discussion with Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and other local officials. After visiting Semarang, he inspected an industrial area and a labor-intensive project in Batang Regency. In the afternoon, He visited an export-oriented furniture factory in Demak Regency.
 
"Hopefully, our economy can return to normal soon," President Jokowi stated.
 
"However, if it is not based on data, we should not hastily ease restrictions and enter new normal," he explained.
