Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has instructed Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian to reduce the number of overlapping local regulations.
President Jokowi said the number of overlapping regulations is still high. He has been repeatedly asking his ministers to tackle the problem.
"It should be observed by home affairs minister. The number of overlapping local regulations is still high. They are not in line with national-level regulations," President Jokowi said during the inaugural cabinet meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2019.
The former Jakarta governor has also ordered the members of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet to identify and map overlapping relugations. He revealed that the cabinet will hold another meeting in the next few weeks.
Jokowi stressted that the main goal of his new cabinet is to create more jobs. He believes that higher employment rate is needed by Indonesian people.
"Ministries, provinces, regencies and cities must understand this. Job creation must be given more room. It must be implemented well," he concluded.
