Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah announced on Thursday that she tested positive for coronavirus.
"The result of my polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is positive," the minister said in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
According to the National Awakening Party (PKB) politician, she is in stable condition and is currently undergoing self-isolation at her residence.
"Thank God, my physical condition is good. I am currently undergoing self-isolation. It is needed to prevent the spread of the virus," she explained.
On Thursday, Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 8,369 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 557,877.
From Wednesday noon to Thursday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients across Indonesia was up by 3,673 to 462,553.
In the same period, the country's official covid-19 death toll rose by 156 to 17,355.
