Jakarta: PKS has officially proposed its three members to fill the vacant Jakarta deputy governor position, the party said Wednesday.
The three candidates are Jakarta Regional Executive Board general secretary Agung Yulianto, former Bekasi deputy mayor Akhmad Syaikhu and local lawmaker Abdurrahman Suhaimi.
"We will inform gerindra about the candidates and the fit and proper test. We will send them a letter this afternoon," PKS official Syakir Purnomo told Medcom.id on Wednesday.
Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno won the Jakarta gubernatorial election in 2016. They were endorsed by Gerindra and PKS at the time.
The latter stepped down from his position in August 2018. He was picked as Prabowo Subianto's running mate for the upcoming presidential election.
After a series of negotiations, Gerindra agreed to nominate PKS politicians for the vacant position. However, the party wants to hold a fit and proper test for the proposed candidates.
