Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission summoned South Ogan Komering Ulu Regent Popo Ali Martopo as a witness in an alleged graft case related to procurement projects at the Religious Affairs Ministry in 2011.
"He was summoned as a witness for suspect USM (former Religious Affairs Ministry official Undang Sumantri)," KPK acting spokesperson Ali Fikri said here on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
KPK investigators will inquire about Popo's relationship with Undang. The anti-corruption watchdog belives Popo has information about the case.

Besides Popo, KPK also summoned two other witnesses, Tarmizi and Azhari. They are both former employees at the Religious Affairs Ministry.
KPK earlier revealed Undang allegedly manipulated two procurement projects. It stated the estimated state loss in this case reached Rp16 billion.
Undang was named as a suspect on December 16, 2019. It was a development of a related graft case involving former Golkar lawmaker Zulkarnaen Djabar and his son Dendy Prasetia.
