Jakarta: The Ministry of Social Affairs' Public Relations Head Hasyim stated that the government had made varied efforts to ensure no misuse of the social aid.
Hasyim noted that the mechanism for distribution of social aid remained the same. However, to prevent the misuse of social aid, the government had made several efforts.
The first step taken by the government was to bolster transparency. Thus, data for social aid recipients can be checked through cekbansos.kemensos.go.id.
The second effort is by strengthening field monitoring and observation.
The third effort is by involving local government officers in the monitoring process.
The fourth effort entails strengthening social companionship within the community, so that they can work independently and professionally.
Hasyim affirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs had collaborated with the police, Attorney General's Office, and Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to monitor and handle the implementation of social aid program.
Moreover, the public relations head invited citizens to actively participate in overseeing the distribution of social aid, and any indication of misuse may be reported to the authorities.
"Citizens may report to the law enforcement institution if they found any case of social aid misuse. Citizens may also report to https://wbs.kemensos.go.id," Hasyim elaborated.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Jodi Mahardi stated that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi’s) directive is clear that social aid must be distributed promptly and accurately.
"Citizens may oversee the distribution of social aid. Report to the authorities if there is any evidence of misuse of the social aid fund. The government is keen to ensure that the citizens have the right to receive social aid quickly and in accordance with their rights," Mahardi asserted.
