Medan: North Sumatra Police's Narcotics Detective Directorate seized 100 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 50 thousand ecstasy pills during a raid resulting in two traffickers being arrested of which one was killed for assaulting an officer.
North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Martuani Sormin notified the press here on Tuesday that the raid was conducted following interrogation of a suspect, identified by his initials as DEJ, who was arrested on June 19.
"We have detained DEJ. We have not exposed it since investigation is yet ongoing," he stated.
During the interrogation, DEJ had come clean about having a partner in Jakarta, following which the police conducted a probe that ultimately led to the arrest of HW in Jakarta on Saturday.
From HW, police officers confiscated three plastic bags containing 50 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and one fiber box containing five transparent plastic packages in which 25 thousand ecstasy pills were kept.
The officers later arrested another suspect, with the initials ST, on Jalan Raya Cilincing, Kali Baru, Jakarta.
From ST, the officers confiscated 50 kg of shabu-shabu wrapped in Chinese tea packages and a fiber box containing five transparent plastic packages filled with 25 thousand ecstasy pills.
"From the statement given by the suspect, ST, the narcotics consignment would have been delivered to a warehouse in Medan," he revealed.
Furthermore, on Monday, a controlled delivery of drugs was conducted under the supervision of officers at one of the warehouses in the KIM III Medan area.
However, on the occasion, ST attacked one of the officers with a machete, for which the suspect was neutralized.
"The officers then took ST to the Bhayangkara Hospital, Medan. However, ST died on the way to the hospital," he added. (antara)
