Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has encouraged GP Ansor to help the impacts of covid-19 pandemic that affect many Indonesians.
On Friday, the president joined the GP Ansor Congress virtually. GP Ansor is the wing organization of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia.
"I hope GP Ansor members can work together with the government and other elements of society to help our brothers and sisters." the former Jakarta governor said.
"If we work together, we will be able to help fishermen, farmers and small businesses and acellerate the country's economic recovery." he stated.
To tackle the impact of covid-19, the Indonesian government has set several targets, including lower daily new covid-19 cases, increase in recovery rate, and decline in mortality rate.
On Friday, the National Covid-19 Task Force confirmed 3,891 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 236,519.
