Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Kendari Bay Bridge during his working visit to Southeast Sulawesi Province on Thursday.
The 1.35-kilometer bridge is expected to become the new icon of Kendari City, the capital of Southeast Sulawesi Province.
"Thank God, the construction of the 1.349-kilometer Kendari Bay Bridge has been completed," said President Jokowi.
According to the president, the bridge can help improve movements of people and goods in Kendari and boost economic activities in the region.
"Better connectivity will improve movements of goods and people. It will increase competitiveness. As a result, Southeast Sulawesi Province, especially Kendari City, will be attractive for new businesses," President Jokowi explained.
During the visit, The president was accompanied by Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi.
