Banda Aceh: The Lhokseumawe District Court in Aceh awarded death term to a drug dealer and life imprisonment to three other convicts over possession of 53 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
The court's judiciary panel, headed by Mukhtar, SH, MH, read out its verdict on this drug case on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
The drug dealer is Ibnu Sahar (37). He is a resident of Pidie regency.
The three other convicts are M Arazi (26), Hamdan (24) and Irwandi (27). They are residents of Lhokseumawe City.
According to the panel of judges, the convicts were found guilty of possessing 53 kilograms of crystal meth. As a result, they violated Article 114, Point 2, juncto Article 132 of the Indonesian Drug Law Number 35 of 2009.
Indonesia remains under serious threat from drug dealers. The nation is perceived by both domestic and transnational drug dealers as a potential market due to its huge population and millions of drug users.
