Jakarta: The Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI-Lingkaran) Ikrama Masloman hopes the proposed electronic recapitulation (e-rekap) system could perform better than the current recapitulation information system (situng).
“Situng has a lot of disadvantages, especially in terms of transparency,” Ikrama said here on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
"The system should be real time. It should be given a deadline. for example, the system should be able to complete the process four or five days after the voting day," he explained.
According to him, if the e-rekap system is not capable of reaching the 100% target, the public will question the legitimacy of the e-rekap system.
Previously, General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner, Pramono Ubaid Tantowi ensured that the implementation of the e-rekap system in the upcoming 2020 Regional Elections will be smooth. He said that the system is capable of avoiding potential threats.
“There were allegations that there was foreign interference in the 2019 general elections. We will make sure that e-recap technology initiated by the students from the Bandung Technology Institute (ITB) will be effective,” said Pramono. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
