Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today chaired a meeting to discuss and review preparations for hosting the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in 2021.
The meeting was held via video conference from the Bogor Presidential Palace, Bogor City, West Java Province on Tuesday morning.
In the meeting, President Jokowi asked for a report on the progress of the preparations.
"I ask for an updated report, especially related to the readiness of the main stadium and supporting stadiums in the six designated provinces," said the President.
The government has chosen six provinces to host the U20 World Cup matches, namely Jakarta Special Capital Region, South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bali.
According to the former Jakarta governor, Indonesia also needs to convince the world that the country is safe and ready to host the FIFA U20 World Cup.
"Lastly, this is the most important, we must ensure that Indonesia has prepared strict health protocols so that it is very safe to visit," he said.
