Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inspected the distribution of staple food packages in Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, Jakarta Province on Monday, May 18, 2020.
"I want to observe the distribution of staple food packages in Greater Jakarta area," the former Jakarta governor told reporters during the inspection.
During the visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by a number of cabinet members, including Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy.
Last week, President Jokowi ordered relevant cabinet ministers to accelerate the distribution of both direct cash assistance (BLT) and social cash assistance (BST) through procedure simplification.
The central government, he said, has provided social assistance to the people, among others, free electricity for 450 VA customers and a 50 percent fee reduction for 900 VA customers, staple food card for 20 million recipients, Family Hope Program (PKH) for 10 million beneficiaries, village funds direct cash assistance, and social cash assistance.
The president also said the amount of social cash assistance is Rp600,000 per month for three months, while the amount of BLT Desa is Rp600,000 per month for three months.
