Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) considers arresting the member of the National Audit Board (BPK), Rizal Djalil.
The arrest may be carried out after the advanced probe into Rizal’s involvement in the bribery case in relation to drinking water supply system (SPAM) project belonging to the Ministry of Public Workings and Housing.
“If our investigators considers arresting the suspect because of the fulfillment of certain requirements, they will inform the commissioners,” said KPK spokesperson, Febri Diansyah said here on Thursday.
Febri said that the investigators have both objective and subjective reasons to arrest the suspects. He explained that they will no be reluctant to arrest Rizal if the Article 21 of the Criminal Code is followed.
Yesterday, the first probe was carried out into Rizal’s involvement as the suspect. However, KPK did not arrest him immediately. After being investigated, Rizal challenged challenged KPK to provide evidence which proved his alleged involvement in the bribery case in relation to the project.
Rizal denied receiving bribes from the commissioner of PT Minarta Dutahutama, Leonardo Jusminarta. He denied his involvement in the project on behalf of PT Minarta
KPK has identified Rizal and Leonardo as the suspects in the bribery case concerning the project. Rizal was alleged to receive bribe of 100,000 Singaporean Dollars from Leonardo. The bribe was given in exchange for Rizal helping Leonardo’s company acquire the contract of the Hongaria SPAM project. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
