Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has encouraged members of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet to submit their state official wealth report (LHKPN). If needed, their families can also help fill the wealth report.
"Just submit the wealth report. Their wife and children can also assist them. The children can improve their sense of responsibility. The children can help their parent to avoid corruption," KPK deputy chairman Saut Situmorang said here on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
Saut stressed that state officials should teach by example. He believes that respected officials can inspire their suboordinates.
"It is a paternalistic country. A leader's job is to inspire. If they can inspire their suboordinates, they can create many innovations," Saut explained.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security affairs Mahfud MD recently submitted his LHKPN to the anti-corruption watchdog. He also urged his colleagues to do the same.
"Some of the ministers are businesspersons," the former Consitutional Court (MK) chief justice told reporters on Monday, December 1, 2019.
He explained that ministers who never submitted LHKPN should start from scratch. He admitted that the procedure is quite complicated.
"On the other hand, I just need to update my previous report," Mahfud noted.
KPK is quite keen on appealing to cabinet ministers to immediately report their LHKPN. Moreover, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has also advised his aides to avoid corruption.
